Maybe it’s the badass tattooed waitresses who are sweet as pie. The giant milkshakes — enough for two in a small! — that are too thick for a straw. The big diner breakfasts, no, lunch, no dinner! Summer afternoons on the patio, winter weekday mornings when West Seattle wakes up. The lunchbox collection, the Batmobile ride, the steelworkers from the mill across the street. I take visitors from out of town to Luna Park for a peek into West Seattle’s amusement park past, for the great vibe, and oh, for the fries. Of course for the fries. I took this photo early in the morning after the diner had just opened. I was waiting for a friend to join me for breakfast.
